This past weekend pint-sized athletes from all over the Des Moines Metro tested their limits at the Hy-Vee Pinky Swear Triathlon. Businessolver was eager to jump on board as a 2016 sponsor of this fun and fit event where kids ages 6-18 run, bike, and swim on behalf of children battling cancer.

The atmosphere was energetic as everyone learned more about the common cause they were racing for: The Pinky Swear Foundation eases the financial and emotional impact experienced by families with a child with cancer by providing immediate needs support and unique family programs. Based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Pinky Swear established a presence in Iowa in 2015.

The Businessolver tent at the triathlon offered some much-needed shade for competitors as well as family games. Playing bean bag toss and the ladders game were a fun way Businessolver employees could volunteer with their families at this event. Kim Davidson, Businessolver Manager of Engagement, brought her entire family to the event:

“We enjoyed volunteering at the Pinky Swear Triathlon. It showed our kids that you can make a difference at any age - something we promote throughout our family. My husband and I got to connect with a family currently experiencing the effects of cancer. It was a humbling experience because it shows that you can never anticipate how cancer is going to impact your lives. We are blessed enough to share a cancer recovery story in our family and want to do our part to spread awareness and support in the community.”

The event was a great way for kids to try out a competitive event while raising money and supporting a great organization. Businessolver is proud to be a part of something with such meaningful impact.
