Indifference is the poison that kills engagement and overall employee satisfaction.

Low engagement can cost an employer actual dollars in work productivity and turnover rates, up to $550 billion a year!

We are moving in the right direction, according to the recent Gallup pollthe engagement rate increased to 34 percent. This is cause for a smile, but not a celebration. 

The truth is, the majority of the American workforce feels unengaged at work which can put a damper on more than just team moral, it can affect the bottom line in more ways than one. In contrast, highly engaged teams show:

  • 21 percent greater profitability
  • 41 percent reduction in absenteeism
  • 59 percent less turnover

Employee engagement isn’t just a “perk”— it’s a business imperative. The businesses that provide real tools and programs that help employees succeed at their goals have more success in improving employee engagement. This includes holistic wellness programs that focus on healthy lifestyle choices like, healthy food choices, and exercise programs. In a recent Aflac benefits summary, 61 percent of employees agree they have made better choices because of their organizations wellness program.

One way to improve employee wellness is to provide fun and easy ways to get up from those desks and get the heart rate pumping! By moving just a little more every day, employees can decrease their risks of chronic illnesses like heart disease and diabetes, while also improving mental health and reducing stress.
