What better way for us to celebrate World Health Day than to honor the flag and start a healthy journey at the same time! Here at Businessolver we start a 4th of July Flag Challenge every year approximately 90 days prior to Independence Day. We love this challenge because it brings awareness to our nutritional choices as well as forcing us to get outside after a long winter (at least those of us in colder locations). Last year, we had 127 Solvers complete the challenge!

Happy New Year! It’s prime time for resolutions, which fills me with excitement and dread all at once. Of course, as a wellness and fitness professional, there’s nothing I love more than seeing the influx of energized faces in our Fitnessolver facility every January. Many of my fellow Solvers are just like most Americans – who according to Nielsen data most commonly resolve to stay fit and healthy (37%) and/or lose weight (32%) in the new year.
There’s no denying that this time of year is magical – holiday lights and music, the first snowfall, and children’s unrestrained glee all make this season so special. What’s not magic, though, is that all of our merrymaking during the holidays doesn’t change basic math: Calories in = Calories out is still the equation for maintaining weight … even during the holidays.
I’m fired up today, and ready to kick butt – literally. I recently was shocked to learn that even in 2017 – with all that we now know about the dire health risks associated with cigarette smoking – 36.5 million Americans smoke! As a career-long wellness professional, and now the Onsite Wellness and Fitness Administrator at Businessolver, seeing that statistic made me sad – especially considering that smoking kills almost half a million Americans each year.
