Get a gratefulness head start to retain invaluable employees.

On your mark.

Over the next week, millions of runners in more than 1,400 U.S. cities will participate in a Turkey Trot. In addition to spending time with family, sharing gratitude, and devouring delicious meals, these passionate people will set time aside to not only get moving, but also support charities and celebrate their communities.

Celebrate good times.

It’s a great time of year to be thankful. Gratitude, especially practiced daily, boasts insane benefits for immune system, sleep, resiliency, and personal relationships—just to name a few. In the workplace, gratitude is a key factor in retaining employees.

Pat on the chat?

Remote work eliminated back pats, fist bumps, and hallway compliments, so it’s important to prioritize putting those kudos in Slack, on LinkedIn, or wherever those digital water cooler chats happen. The most meaningful sentiments go beyond work, recognizing someone’s inherent value separate from results and performance.

The elixir

From productivity to morale, it’s critical to cultivate a culture of appreciation. Retention is an especially hot topic these days. The hiring frenzy has waned, and managers are hoping to keep and invest in the talent they currently have.

Chasing your tail.

If you’re waiting until employees celebrate their work-iversaries to implement retention strategies, it may be too late. Disorganization in onboarding processes may reveal red flags on day one for new hires. Having thorough trainings, and even mentorships, to ensure transition success helps show employees you’re invested. And, earn their enthusiastic tenure in return.

Date with Data: 36% of employees say liking their co-workers contributes to them staying at their job.
