The skinny
Thanksgiving is (somehow) right around the corner, and whatever it is that you’re thankful for—a coworker, family member, or the fact that the McRib is back—make sure you take some time to show some appreciation for yourself, too.
You better recognize
One thing that gets us through the busy season—peer-to-peer recognition. You know, when all the proverbial matter is hitting the fan and you’re not sure how you’re going to get everything done in time? Then a rock star coworker swoops in for the rescue? We love those moments, and we celebrate them with each other. And we never hesitate to tell someone how much they meant to us in our times of need.
To infinity and beyond
What does “going above and beyond” mean? Let’s break it down.
Responsibility is when someone fulfills all their requirements, checks every box, and satisfactorily completes the tasks that are listed on their job description. Accountability is like the next step. It’s when someone meets challenges head on, learns more each review cycle, and isn’t afraid to keep asking questions. When we honor and celebrate these efforts, it sparks a chain reaction for others to do the same. It's not just about the applause; it's about building a collective spirit where everyone wants to exceed expectations. Before you know it, you've cultivated a community ready to lend a hand during the most critical moments. That's the real strength of an organization.
Reflection
How far have we come in 2023? What are some goals, big or small, that you personally or professionally accomplished this year? Don’t forget to thank the real MVP in your life—YOU. When you think back on the year remember, first and foremost, you made it happen. Give yourself a pat on the back. And allow us to be among the first to say: “Thank you!”
