Delighted_Intern_3

The Delighted Intern series gives an inside look at how our interns are making an impact here at Businessolver. Today, meet Luke Bacci and Charlie Raike, two of our many Client Services Interns. Luke studies and plays baseball at Lakeland College in Wisconsin and Charlie is currently a student at Iowa State. Joining Businessolver on June 1st, they already have had plenty of opportunities to further develop their careers. Let’s see what they have been working on!

Luke Bacci

As cliché as it sounds, June 1st was the start of a new chapter in my life. I moved to Des Moines ready to embrace the “creative chaos” and the “work hard, play hard” environment created by Businessolver, and it has exceeded all of my expectations.

As many people know, the title “Intern” can be portrayed as someone who runs and gets coffee or gets stuck of the work that no one else wants to do. At Businessolver, it’s far from that. I have had the opportunity to experience a wide variety of things. From client calls and sales demos to Benefitsolver classes, each opportunity has provided me with a different learning environment--an environment that differs greatly from the classroom. Although learning how to handle client calls has come naturally to me, understanding the Benefitsolver system has not been as easy. It is very complex and requires a lot of practice and navigation to fully understand it, but I think I am getting the hang of it thanks to the help of my team.

This internship has been fantastic thus far and I cannot wait to further develop my professional skills and take the real life experiences I have gathered with me.

Charlie Raike

Charlie Raike is the name and Client Services Intern is the game. I have been helping my team delight our clients with timely and accurate solutions to problems. I have found that I am particularly good at building plan classes, updating plan pricing, creating dots, audits, triaging error reports or anything else that is extremely tedious. All joking aside, I have been helping my coworkers do the little things that need to get done but they might not have time for, and the fun part is that I really enjoy it. Not only do I realize I am part of a larger team and by doing this so my teammates can get more done, but it also gives me great experience with the incredible system we work out of.

My team has embraced the fact that they now have an intern working with them, so they have done everything in their power to make me feel welcome, even hanging up funny Charlie related memes around my desk (Charlie bit me and Charlie from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”). As interns, we have been given the opportunity to make a profound impact on this company by researching projects and presenting them to our executive board. This has made us better friends and challenged us to think about what makes this company special.

There are a ton of things I have really enjoyed thus far about Businessolver, including the work we do for our clients, the people I work with and my fellow interns. I’ve enjoyed the fairly relaxed dress code, but have taken it upon myself to dress up on Fridays instead of dressing down. I love bow ties so any opportunity to wear one is great, plus celebrating the beginning of the weekend seems like the perfect time!

I’m currently a Psychology student at Iowa State and I love getting to know new people (I promise I am not analyzing you… most likely…). So whether there is something for me to do, someone wants to learn how to tie a bow tie (yes, I have one at my desk for people to practice with), or you just want to strike up a conversation, I am here to make the most of my experience at Businessolver.
