As we are all aware, the Affordable Care Act is now in its fifth year, and its requirements aren’t getting easier with age. In fact, many believe it to be the opposite. “The ACA has made benefits much more complicated than they ever were before,” states Sally Roberts, director of human resources at Morris Communications Company in a recent EBN article. Roberts mentioned that she personally spends twice as much time administering health care benefits for her employer than before the ACA was enacted.

Sally’s situation is all too familiar for many HR professionals. Navigating the ACA legislation is something that has grown into a bigger task that ever expected, and in some cases, a full time job. In fact, we have a whole team dedicated to figuring it out! Employers don’t have the time, or resources, to configure, measure, apply, report and communicate the detailed requirements of the ACA, which is why we’ve set out to create an innovative technology solution that does just that.

Navigating ACA is no longer a job that one individual can do on their own.

Businessolver strongly believes that part of our mission as a benefits administration technology partner is to help our clients navigate the changing legislative environment. That mission includes helping our clients understand and respond to the often confusing requirements of the ACA. The first step in delivering on that promise is understanding the law and how we can support compliance for our clients.

It’s likely that more changes will be required over the coming years; the flexibility of our solution and our agile product development model allows us to implement updates easily and quickly. Given the fluctuations in the ACA’s (and other legislation) requirements, this nimbleness allows us to implement the actual requirements and avoid costly and time-consuming cycles of release-rework-release. This approach means that we can regularly evaluate and prioritize all potential system enhancements, whether they are dictated by legislative requirements or client needs.

If you’re struggling with ACA compliance, know you’re not alone and that there is an easier way. We understand the ACA challenge employers are facing and have been working diligently to create a technology solution that automates the required data collection and reporting to relieve employers of the daunting compliance burden.
