Let’s start off on the right foot

Cybersecurity
The skinny

Cybersecurity is no laughing matter, but a little fun goes a long way.

Privacy please.

Today is the 16th annual Data Privacy Day, celebrating the anniversary of Convention 108, the first international data protection treaty. Technology, with all its amazing features, can be hacked, opening doors to valuable information. Privacy is nonnegotiable: Employees deserve it, customers expect it, and operations are at risk without it.

BYOD.

For more than 80% of companies, it’s not a matter of if, but when. Data breaches are happening more and more, costing millions and damaging reputations. Remote work, while beneficial to people and business, adds complexity to cybersecurity. “Bring Your Own Device” policies, working from public spaces, and unsecured networks all pose threats to vulnerable data.

Pa$$word1.

Half a billion passwords have been stolen (or simply guessed with a yawn) in the last few years. Across industries, organizations making the switch to password-less security. Why? For one, the strongest passwords are the hardest to remember. Also, cybercriminals are getting better at hunting down personal details even posing as recruiters or colleagues on social media.

F is for friends.

Security training is a great first step. Focus on making the materials less technical with approachable information. Finding ways to fun-ify trainings makes a difference. Digestible content and friendly competition can help employees retain information and get excited about the mission.

Who’s gonna say it?

We’re in the benefits business. So, let’s remember the same chaos-seeking individuals that attempt to hack and steal their way into your systems are using their social engineering tactics to target employees in their personal lives, too. Offering a variety of benefits like identity protection, legal services, and supplemental insurance, gives them the tools to recover or safeguard their information.
