Weekly Skinny

Let’s start off on the right foot

"Because true belonging only happens when we present our authentic, imperfect selves to the world, our sense of belonging can never be greater than our level of self-acceptance.”

Employers must develop a multi-pronged approach to battle burnout.

Burn-over Rate

Even as inflation rises, employers are still scrambling to land (and keep) top talent. Employees are burnt out from seemingly endless personal and national crisis. Some are checking out organizations that bring more to the table, and others are struggling to stay afloat.

Medusa.

With the most diverse workforce in history, addressing burnout can feel like new concerns pop up each day. As leadership teams discuss the best path forward, stressed employees are losing their ability to focus, making more mistakes, and feeling disconnected from their colleagues.

Got a hole in your pocket?

Most agree, wages need to increase to meet the rising cost-of-living. But remember, you can’t just throw money at employees and expect productivity and loyalty in return. Job satisfaction comes from a sense of connection and ownership.

You’ve got a friend in me.

Sure, HR shouldn’t be asking about the latest hot gossip, but they can facilitate opportunities for workers to talk about nonwork-related subjects. Employees with higher social capital are 150% more likely to feel a sense of belonging.

Priceless.

Mental health and overall wellbeing skyrocketed to top priority since 2020. In just the last year, 46% of people say their expectations around happiness at work increased. So, are these efforts even providing relief?

Definitely maybe.

Until you ask, how do you know? Doubling down on employee health and happiness means finding ways to track and analyze these subjective initiatives alongside fair and equitable pay.

You promise?

With compensation needs at an all-time high, benefits play an important role in protecting employees. A long, healthy life includes many joyful days—and sadly some devasting ones, too. From psychologically safe work cultures to robust benefits offerings, top employers are putting people first.

Date with Data: 30% of all workdays are 'ideal' while 34% are 'typical' and 19% are 'crisis' days.

Reignite your work with personal purpose and find greater satisfaction in your every day.

Broken record.

You’ve heard it before, but it’s much easier said than done. Infusing work with your own mission is the best way to feel motivated, be authentic, and spur career success.

Pandemic, recession, monkeypox.

Navigating everyday life is complicated right now—and that’s putting it lightly. Change is inevitable, and usually it’s, like, really beneficial. But new processes and ideas can be stressful and intimidating at first. With a personal purpose, change becomes a skill instead of a fear.

 Max heartrate.

Opportunities both scary and exciting get the heart pounding. A career bucket list can be a guide to know when to lean into the uncomfortable. Knowing what you want to achieve long-term is one way to infuse purpose into your daily duties.

Outside the box.

Even the best HR careers have days that seem to slog on and on. Another way to think strategically and develop purpose is to solve businesses problems. Day-to-day efficiencies are certainly needed, but big picture contributions are more meaningful.
