#SolverSoul Goes Summer Continues

Welcome back to “#SolverSoul Goes Summer,” a blog series to accompany our #SolverSoul video series on Instagram. In part two of five, meet Ellie, Morgan, and Kendall!

Ellie Cavanaugh is a marketing major at Iowa State University; Morgan Hulick studies business economics, also at Iowa State; Kendall Antle attends Grand View University, majoring in biochemistry and biology.

All three of you are working this summer in Client Services – describe your role.
Morgan: I’ve had the opportunity to shadow multiple departments. Currently, I’m helping the Sales team import data from an online database. And of course, I’m working with other interns on our Executive Proposal Project and a Community Service Project every week!

Ellie: While studying for my insurance exam, I’ve been helping with triage, dependent verification, direct billing, adding subsidies, and COBRA processing.

Kendall: As a client services intern, I understand the significance of each document from both the client and employer perspective, and have engaged with fellow Solvers to explore relevant trends in the HR/benefits industry. It’s been so rewarding to support the business by delivering delight through optimal client service.

Goals for the summer?
Ellie: I am trying to learn and experience as much as possible. I am not sure what I want to do with my marketing degree so this internship is helping me gain insight into the professional world.

Kendall: I hope to have acquired valuable exposure to business law, healthcare, insurance, marketing, and sales. I hope to expand my network, establish connections, and contribute to making Businessolver a better place for young professionals.

What have you learned from fellow Solvers?
Ellie: I’ve learned to adopt a team mentality. Everyone I have worked with has the attitude that it’s not someone’s specific mistake or problem, it’s everyone’s. If something goes wrong, they tackle it as a team and put the company first, rather than themselves.

What does #SolverSoul mean to you?
Morgan: So far, I have valued the ability to be able to ask anyone a question about anything. I’m a pretty independent person so I like to be able to work on my own, however, I recognize that I’m not a total genius yet when it comes to benefits. Being able to ask questions to employees around me has been the most beneficial learning tool when it comes to my role here at Businessolver.

Closing thoughts or shout outs?
Morgan: Kelsey Mandrell has been extremely helpful! She’s welcomed us with open arms and answers any and all questions we have. I’m so thankful I’ve had the opportunity to meet and collaborate with her.

Kendall: Jake Flatness has done an excellent job of including me in his everyday activities.  Without his demonstration and guidance, I would not be as comfortable handling client documents and processing each one correctly on a daily basis.
